Drug copays on some PPO plans apply at preferred in-network pharmacies; other in-network pharmacies cost more. "After deductible" means you pay the full allowed amount until the deductible is met. Signature plans are sold off the exchange only.
Ways to lower your cost
Premium tax credits
Available only when you enroll through Get Covered Illinois. The credit depends on your household income and size and lowers your monthly premium on any on-exchange metal plan. Security (catastrophic) plans cannot be paired with a tax credit.
Cost-sharing reductions
If your income qualifies, on-exchange Silver plans come in enhanced versions with lower deductibles, copays and out-of-pocket maximums at the same premium. The table below shows what each level looks like.
Health Savings Accounts
All 2027 BCBSIL Bronze and Security plans are filed as HSA eligible, so you can set aside pre-tax dollars for deductibles, copays and other qualified expenses.

2027 BCBSIL questions and answers
Are these 2027 BCBSIL rates final?
No. The premiums on this page are the rates Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois filed with the Illinois Department of Insurance (SERFF filing ILCP-134960138). The Department lists the proposed average change for this filing as 14.90%, with individual plans ranging from a 5.30% decrease to a 33.90% increase. Final approved rates can differ, and we will update this page when the Department publishes them.
When can I enroll in a 2027 plan?
Open enrollment for 2027 coverage begins November 1, 2026. Enroll by December 15, 2026 for coverage that starts January 1, 2027. Outside open enrollment you need a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, marriage or the birth of a child.
Which BCBSIL networks are sold in my county?
Blue Choice Preferred PPO is filed in all 102 Illinois counties. Blue Precision HMO is filed in 18 counties, BlueCare Direct with Advocate in 4 and MyBlue Plus POS in 5. Choose your county in the plan finder above to see exactly which plans and premiums apply to you.
What happens to my 2026 BCBSIL plan?
BCBSIL filed a renewal path for every one of its 220 individual plan IDs from 2026. Of those, 176 renew under the same plan ID and 44 move to a different plan within the same product. Your renewal notice will show your 2027 plan and premium. Benefits and prices change every year, so it is worth comparing before you let a plan renew automatically.
Which 2027 plans work with a Health Savings Account?
The filing lists every 2027 BCBSIL Bronze plan and both Security (catastrophic) plans as HSA eligible. That is 11 plan options across all four networks. Silver and Gold plans in this filing are not HSA eligible.
Do tobacco users pay more?
Not under this filing. BCBSIL filed the same 2027 premium for tobacco users and non-users. Premiums vary only by plan, age and the rating area you live in.
Can I get a tax credit with these plans?
Premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions are available only for plans bought through Get Covered Illinois, the state marketplace. 30 of the 34 plan options are filed for sale on the marketplace. The 4 Signature plans are sold off the exchange only and cannot be paired with a tax credit.
Does it cost more to enroll through Illinois Health Agents?
No. Premiums are set by the filing and are the same whether you enroll directly, through the marketplace or with a licensed agent. Our help is free to you.
Ready to compare or enroll?
Illinois Health Agents is a licensed, independent agency appointed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. Our help is free and your premium is the same either way.
